The world population is expected to increase to 8.6 billion people until 2030 for which additional 27 mio. tons of seafood are required. Changing environmental conditions limit the expansion of traditional fish farming methods, which emphasizes the urgent need for a solution.
Within this talk, we will present a technological and economical solution to increase the aquaculture production by raising fish in indoor recirculation systems (RAS). In our approach, we combine the development of technology components required for RAS with aquaculture know-how based on decades of experience in fish-farming. This synthesis enables us to build resource-efficient and economical successful fish farms.
